ADHD/ADDers.... struggle with sleep? Routines? overwhelmed?

The combinations of working as a nurse doing nights, rotating shifts & on-call really messed up my sleep. I wonder how many hours of actual sleep deprivation I have now? Innattentive ADD, anxiety & depression added on top of sleep deprivation have wreaked havoc on my body.
Why did I buy this book? My husband pointed out the difference in how I would look, act & say how I felt when I actually got a good night's rest. I did not realize how many days I have not felt well.... this book claimed to have the tools. So, I read it.
WHAT A GREAT BOOK! Easy to read, the author gave examples & was not condescending to the readers. However most of these skills I know how to do, he actually explains why they need to be done at certain times. Then he gives several examples of how you might go about this yourself, based on the type of learner you may be. Stresses that change does not happen instantly. Talks about how we are more productive, able to focus more, happier & energetic with just getting quality sleep. Emphasizes routine & structure (which I often find boring).
I have some changes to make and a simple plan to customize for myself. Thank-you for writing this!

A refreshing read that will change your life

"Wake Up Successful - How to Increase Your Energy and Achieve Any Goal with a Morning Routine," by S.J. Scott, is a self-help book that helps you create a morning routine that aims for making you successful in whatever it is you wish to do.

The suggestions in this book are best applied if you have time to spare in the morning, but if you don't, you can adjust your daily schedule so that you can incorporate this 1 1/2 hour routine into your life.

The author says that first thing in the morning is the best time to gain energy for the day and work towards your goals. He suggests doing revitalizing activities for 30 minutes, and then follow that with 30-60 minutes of working on what you have the most passion for and/or what will change your life for the better. He says it's best to work on only one project at a time in order to be most effective at achieving your goals. Once a goal has been achieved, you can move on to your next goal to accomplish.

The 30 minutes of revitalizing activities will wake you up, get you motivated for the day, and give you energy to tackle your day. The author explains how the activities you usually do in the morning do not increase your energy. He gives examples of energy stimulating activities that you can do instead.

This book gets you thinking about your life - your life purpose, what you want to do with your life, what you want to change about your life, and how you can change your life.

This book has a unique angle on how to be successful that anyone can implement and see immediate results. The author knows what he's talking about. This book will change your life for the better and your life will improve. At the very least, it will get you to evaluate your life and make some adjustments.

Not Much Content

This should really be edited down to a blog post or free PDF. Although listed as having 68 pages, there are really only about 55 with content. The author even placed the Table of Contents between the intro and the first chapter to bump up the page count. Almost 40% of the book (20 of the 55 pages) is a redundant collection of 15 examples of self-improvement activities. Everyone's self-improvement goal is going to be different and we don't need a laundry list of possibilities. The extra 13 examples were pure fluff and left me feeling cheated. Although the book gave me something to think about, there was a lot of repetition and not much info to warrant the price.
