About the Author
Jeff is a fiercely proud son of Singapore living in Shanghai. Before heading to China in 2006, for what's been the most amazing adventure of his life, he spent 26 years as a helicopter pilot and flight instructor with the Singapore Air Force. Today, he helps others to Dream It and Live It through his training company, REV.

Great ideas presented in a simple but very clear format.

Great ideas, great illustrations, great book! This is a great read and full of practical advice that I have been able to put to work already. I work in a company that puts a premium on presentation skills and recently got the feedback that I was not being perceived the way I thought I should. I took out my copy of Sticky Steps, browsed through a few chapters, and identified two areas I could work on immediately that should help me make the impression I want.
No book will solve all my problems but this one still smells new and has already earned a spot on my desk at work. If you would like to improve your presentations you should buy this book. I have found that my ability to present ideas if the most important part of getting things done (and approved) and I am always looking for ways to improve. This book is worth a read.

Jeff Tan will help you become a master speaker

I just finished reading a great book on speaking and training from Jeff Tan, Sticky Steps To Creating Killer Presentations: 54 Tips To Design And Deliver A WOW Presentation.
If this book is any representation of how Jeff is as a speaker and trainer I can't wait to see him in action, because as an author he is WOW. So the book title is perfect.
This is a terrific book, loaded with insights and training nuggets. Most important, Jeff doesn't over-teach. He boils down the essence of speaking into each idea he presents. I suppose that's why he's an expert on "Killer Presentations"! The man knows whereof he speaks.
Jeff has a very unusual background. Maybe that helped him make this book so different. He spent 26 years as a helicopter pilot and flight instructor in the Singapore Air Force before starting his own business in Shanghai as a trainer, coach and hypnotherapist. I don't know about you, but anyone who can make a funny-looking machine that doesn't look like it should even lift off go up in the air, swirl around, and land again safely has my full respect and admiration. To Jeff, probably any helicopter is a work of art.
One thing that caught my eye about Jeff is that he is a Peak Performance Pilot. I'm a peak performance coach who founded an international training association that certifies mental game coaches. So Jeff and I have a lot in common.
I have been training and speaking for over 30 years and have been trained by some of the best presentation experts in the world, and "Sticky Steps" holds its own with any training materials I have ever seen. I wish I had heard of Jeff's book when I was in the northern California Board of Directors for the National Speakers Association. I would have bought a copy for the entire chapter!
This book gives you just enough of the reasons and background for what it teaches, not endless theory. It's 90% action-oriented, which is perfect in our microwave world. With today's "I want it yesterday" and fast-is-still-too-slow mentality, this book almost gives it to you yesterday! Every turn of the page shows you a new insight and actionable nugget you can sling into your talks right away.
This book is very easy and pleasurable to hold, since it is in coffee table-style and 142 pages. It's written in the "idea in chunks" style so you can skip around, or read it in a straight line. As a multiple book author, I can really appreciate an author who can take a complex subject and simplify it, deliver the core message, and not lose anything in the translation. Jeff is a master at this.
When I opened the package from Amazon, my eyes feasted on a beautiful cover—really striking in its simplicity. "Killer" has some of the very best interior book design, graphics and illustrations I've seen in a long time. There is variety enough to make it interesting, but no over-kill. Everything fits a theme.
Jeff probably could be a standup comedian. The man knows how to be funny. The book has a clever,
light tone and keeps your attention all the way through. It can be a fast read if you want that, but with serious content that makes a difference.
You really should get a copy of Sticky Steps To Creating Killer Presentations: 54 Tips To Design And Deliver A WOW Presentation and use it in your next presentation. Heck, use it in ALL your presentations!

Well worth reading

Is it worth reading? Yes. This is a book of solid tips, some to be taken, some to be ignored, that will make you think about how better to connect with an audience. It is logically arranged, quick to read with most of the attempts at humor being additive to the message. I purchased the Kindle version, which was well-done. If someone is a poor presenter, this book alone won't "fix" them. If you are looking for a book to get them headed in the right direction, this is a good choice.
